Money that moves one build at a time
Roblox studios raise what they need to finish a game. 1UP holds every pledge and hands it over in stages, each one paid against something backers can actually open and play.
If you are backing a game
You are funding a build, not buying into one.
You back a game
You pick a campaign and choose an amount. The money leaves your account and goes to 1UP — not to the studio.
1UP holds it
The full amount sits in escrow. The studio cannot touch it, and nothing is released on the strength of a promise.
It releases in stages
The studio publishes a build. We check it against what the campaign said it would deliver. Only then does that milestone’s tranche reach them.
A miss sends money back
If a milestone is abandoned, the balance still held is refunded to backers, pro rata. What already cleared stays with the studio — it paid for work that was done.
If you are a studio
You are raising build money, and you keep the game.
You set the milestones
You split the raise into stages and say what each one delivers. Backers fund the plan, so the plan has to be legible.
We review before it opens
Nothing goes public until we have read it with you. Expect a reply within two working days.
You get paid per milestone
Ship a playable build, we verify it, the tranche clears within three working days. Our fee is taken at that moment — never on money merely held, and never on a refund.
You keep the game
You keep full ownership and all of your revenue. This is not a loan and not an investment: nothing is owed back, and no one takes a share of what the game earns.
What backing is not
Backing a game on 1UP is not an investment. You do not receive equity, revenue, interest or any return, and no amount is promised back to you. The only circumstance in which money returns to you is a milestone the studio does not deliver, and then only the part still held in escrow.
